Is your business eligible to offer group insurance in Delaware?

Do you qualify?

  • Is your business based in Delaware ?
  • Does your business file a UC-8 report or a Schedule C tax form?
  • Does your business have a Delaware business license?
  • Do your employees work at least 30 hours per week to qualify as full-time employees?
  • If you have fewer than 10 employees, do all employees want the insurance or have a legitimate reason to opt out (for example, already covered by a spouse)?

If you do not meet these criteria, then you are not eligible to offer group health insurance. Consider purchasing individual health insurance.

What do qualifying employers need to do?

  • Compile a list which includes: employee name, gender, date of birth, home state or zip code and coverage level (e.g. single, parent/child, husband/wife, family or waiving coverage) for each employee.
  • The carriers will require each participating employee to complete a confidential medical history form.
  • Employers must contribute at least 50 percent of the employee’s monthly premium costs.
